Why I Launched ClinicAxis CFO

Published October 6, 2026
Physician owners have a lot of information about their practice — but it often comes from different sources that only see their part of the business.
That is something I kept seeing throughout my years working inside physician practices, MSOs, surgery centers, and larger healthcare organizations.
The billing company sees claims and collections. The practice manager sees day-to-day operations. The accountant and tax preparer see the financial and tax side.
But is anyone bringing all of that information together and looking at the whole business?
That question is a big part of why I launched ClinicAxis CFO.
I’ve seen profitable practices struggle with cash flow. I’ve seen revenue earned but never properly recorded. I’ve seen compensation models that didn’t line up with the economics of the practice. And I’ve seen organizations grow without the financial processes needed to support that growth.
Outside investors can bring valuable financial discipline — better reporting, stronger accountability, more focus on profitability, and closer attention to cash flow.
But physician owners don’t necessarily need to sell their practice to get those benefits.
Much of that discipline can be put in place while physicians remain in control: clearer reporting, better forecasting, stronger revenue cycle accountability, closer attention to provider economics, and a more structured approach to growth.
I’ve also seen the tradeoff in private-equity-backed organizations. Debt and interest expense can consume cash that might otherwise be used to hire better staff, improve processes, invest in technology, or respond to changes in the market.
That reinforced my belief that physician owners should be able to build stronger, more financially disciplined businesses while maintaining their independence.
My goal is to bring physician owners the financial perspective and discipline a sophisticated investor would expect — without requiring them to give up ownership or control.
That means helping owners answer practical questions:
• Where are we really making money?
• Are we collecting everything we’ve earned?
• What will cash look like over the next several months?
• Which providers, services, or locations are performing well?
• Can we afford to add another physician or location?
• Where are costs growing faster than revenue?
ClinicAxis CFO is built around a simple idea: physician owners should have the financial insight they need to build stronger practices while maintaining their independence.
If you own or lead a physician practice and some of these challenges sound familiar, connect with me by requesting a consultation. I’d welcome the conversation.
